Face Up with Cornerstone: SCORM 1.2 and 2004
In Cornerstone Learning, each Face Up simulation becomes a SCORM Online Course, imported with the Content Uploader. Cornerstone also offers LTI 1.3, through a connector that runs via its Technology Partner Program.
In short
Yes, Face Up works with Cornerstone Learning. The route that works straight away is SCORM: each simulation comes as a .zip module (SCORM 1.2 or 2004) that your administrator imports with the Content Uploader, and completion is recorded on the learner’s Transcript. Cornerstone also documents LTI 1.3, with Deep Linking and score return, but that connector goes through its Technology Partner Program rather than an admin screen.
How it works
What the Cornerstone administrator does
They import each Face Up module once, under Admin > Tools > Learning > Content Uploader. The import creates an Online Course, which then appears in the Course Catalog (Admin > Tools > Learning > Catalog Management > Course Catalog) like any other Learning Object. They also check the Content Launching Preferences, which control how content opens.
What the training manager does
During scoping, they choose with the Face Up team the scenarios their programmes need, and receive one module per simulation. Each Online Course then takes its place in the training offer, like any other catalogue item.
What the learner sees
They launch the Online Course from Cornerstone, like the rest of their training. The simulation opens according to your portal’s launch setting, and the browser asks for microphone access the first time. When the conversation ends, they read their debrief and can replay the situation.
What about LTI 1.3?
Cornerstone lists LTI 1.3 among its Content Connectors: the administrator starts a Deep Linking session to pick content from the provider’s catalogue, the items come in as courses, and scores return through AGS. This connector runs through Cornerstone’s Technology Partner Program, not through a screen where you paste keys. If LTI is a requirement for you, raise it during scoping: SCORM lets you start without waiting.
Setup, step by step
- Enable the Content Uploader. Check that Content Publisher is activated under Admin > Tools > Learning > Learning Preferences > Feature Activation Preferences. The older Course Publisher (Content > Course Publisher) remains an option; it requires the Course Publisher, Course Publisher Update and Edit Online Course Providers permissions, plus a content licence.
- Get the Face Up modules. The Face Up team sends one .zip file per simulation, in SCORM 1.2 or 2004. Import them as they are: Cornerstone expects a single standard per zip.
- Import the zip. Open Admin > Tools > Learning > Content Uploader and drag and drop the file (750 MB maximum per file). Cornerstone creates the matching Online Course.
- Set the launch mode. Under Admin > Tools > Learning > Learning Preferences > Content Launching Preferences, choose Full Window, which gives the conversation more room than 800 x 600 Window. For a SCORM 2004 module, Use SSL is required.
- Test in the Pilot portal. As Cornerstone recommends, test first in your Pilot portal with a test account: launch, microphone access, a full session, then completion on the Transcript.
- Open it to a first group. Once the test passes, offer the Online Course to a pilot group in your production portal, then widen access.
What comes back into your LMS
With SCORM, Cornerstone records each learner’s progress on the Online Course. The detailed debrief stays in Face Up.
- Completion: recorded on the learner’s Transcript, alongside the rest of their training.
- Score: the Face Up module also sends a score. The Cornerstone documentation we reviewed does not detail how it is displayed for SCORM, so check it during the Pilot portal test.
- One Online Course per simulation: each scenario has its own record, so you can read results scenario by scenario.
- The debrief: objectives met or not, strengths and points to improve stay in Face Up, where the learner reads them after each session.
Good to know
- Cornerstone’s LTI 1.3 connector goes through its Technology Partner Program: SCORM works straight away, with your portal’s Content Uploader.
- Your browser asks for microphone access the first time. Test on a machine typical of your organisation, with the launch mode you have chosen.
- Access rights matter more than technology: identify early the administrator who can use the Content Uploader and the Pilot portal.
- Start with one pilot course, one scenario and one group. Check the launch, completion on the Transcript and the microphone, then scale up.

Frequently asked questions
Is Face Up compatible with Cornerstone?
Yes. Face Up simulations import into Cornerstone Learning as SCORM 1.2 or 2004 with the Content Uploader, and become Online Courses like any other. You can start as soon as the modules are delivered.
LTI or SCORM with Cornerstone?
SCORM, to start straight away. Cornerstone also documents LTI 1.3, with Deep Linking and score return, but as a content connector that goes through its Technology Partner Program, not through your portal’s administration. To compare the two standards, read our SCORM, LTI and xAPI comparison.
Does the score come back into Cornerstone?
Completion is recorded on the learner’s Transcript. The Face Up module also sends a score: check how it is displayed during the Pilot portal test, as the Cornerstone documentation does not detail it for SCORM. The full debrief stays in Face Up.
How long does setup take, and who does it?
The Face Up team delivers ready-to-import SCORM modules within 48 hours of the scoping call. A Cornerstone administrator then imports them with the Content Uploader and tests them in the Pilot portal. Book your scoping call.
Is it included in my Face Up plan?
Yes. SCORM and LTI are included in every Face Up plan. SSO, CRM and HRIS connections and the API are part of the Enterprise plan. Data is hosted in Paris (GDPR).
