SCORM 1.2
Face Up with TalentLMS: SCORM 1.2
In TalentLMS, a Face Up simulation is added as a SCORM unit in any course. Here is how to import it, what TalentLMS records, and what to know about its LTI 1.3.
In short
Yes, Face Up works with TalentLMS, through SCORM 1.2. You download a simulation’s SCORM module from Face Up and add it to a course as a SCORM | xAPI | cmi5 unit: TalentLMS records each learner’s completion, score and time spent. This is the recommended method, because TalentLMS’s LTI 1.3 has no Deep Linking and its documentation does not describe grade passback.
How it works
What the instructor does
In TalentLMS, a course is made of units. The instructor or administrator editing the course adds a SCORM | xAPI | cmi5 unit, drops in the simulation’s .zip from Face Up and picks the display: embedded in the page or as a pop-up. One scenario equals one unit.
What the learner sees
They open the unit from their course, and the simulation starts in the page or in a pop-up window, depending on the setting. They practise the conversation, get their debrief at the end and can try again. The browser asks for microphone access the first time.
What the administrator does
With SCORM, there is nothing to register in Account & Settings: no tool needs connecting at account level. The administrator simply checks, on a pilot course, that the simulation opens properly on learners’ computers, microphone included.
Setup, step by step
- Get the module. Download the simulation’s SCORM 1.2 module from Face Up (a .zip file). TalentLMS does not accept SCORM 2004 packages.
- Open the course. In Courses, open the course and click Edit.
- Add the unit. Click Add › Learning Activities › SCORM | xAPI | cmi5.
- Upload the .zip. Choose ‘Upload a SCORM, xAPI, or cmi5 ZIP file’, or drag and drop the file.
- Set the display. Under More options › Unit options, set ‘Show as’ to embedded or pop-up, and adjust width and height in pixels if needed. Click Save.
- Test with a learner account. Play the simulation to the end and check completion, score and the microphone in the display mode you chose.
What comes back into your LMS
With SCORM 1.2, TalentLMS records each learner’s results on the Face Up unit; the session detail stays in Face Up.
- Completion: TalentLMS records, for each learner, whether the Face Up unit is completed.
- Score and time spent: the simulation’s score and the time spent are recorded on the unit.
- In Face Up: the detailed debrief (objectives met or not, strengths, points to improve) stays in Face Up.
- With LTI 1.3: TalentLMS only states that it tracks learner activity and course completion for LTI units. That is why SCORM is recommended when you want the score.
Good to know
- TalentLMS only supports SCORM 1.2, single-SCO: a SCORM 2004 package will not work. Make sure you use the 1.2 version of the module.
- Microphone: TalentLMS does not document microphone access in embedded or pop-up display. Test both on your portal during the pilot; the browser asks for permission the first time.
- TalentLMS’s LTI 1.3 is available on the Grow, Pro and Enterprise plans, in the new interface. It has no Deep Linking (one unit and one launch URL per scenario), and tools are registered through a Registration URL. Raise it at the scoping call if this option interests you.
- A SCORM module fixes the scenario version: if the scenario changes, download the new module from Face Up and import it again.
- Start with one pilot course, one scenario and one group. Check the launch, completion and score in TalentLMS, and the microphone, then scale up.

Scoping
We look at your LMS, your learning paths and your constraints, and choose the right method with you: LTI 1.3 or SCORM.
02
Connection
We configure the LTI tool with your administrator, or deliver SCORM modules ready to import.
03
First sessions
Your learners practise from their usual learning path, and their results come back into your LMS.
Frequently asked questions
Is Face Up compatible with TalentLMS?
Yes. Face Up works with TalentLMS through SCORM 1.2: each simulation is added as a SCORM unit in a course, with no tool to connect at account level.
LTI or SCORM with TalentLMS?
SCORM 1.2 is the recommended method. TalentLMS also offers LTI 1.3 on its Grow, Pro and Enterprise plans, but without Deep Linking and without grade passback described in its documentation, whereas SCORM records completion and score. To go further, read our comparison SCORM, LTI or xAPI.
Does the Face Up score come back into TalentLMS?
Yes, with SCORM 1.2: TalentLMS records each learner’s completion, score and time spent on the unit. The detailed session debrief stays in Face Up.
How long does setup take, and who does it?
Allow 48 hours after the scoping call: the Face Up team delivers SCORM modules ready to import. The instructor or administrator then adds them to courses as SCORM units. To get started, book a demo.
Is the integration included in my Face Up plan?
Yes. SCORM and LTI are included in every Face Up plan. SSO, CRM and HRIS connections and the API are part of the Enterprise plan. Data is hosted in Paris, in line with GDPR.
