Hot debrief
Definition
A hot debrief is the feedback given right after a practice scenario, while the exchange is still fresh in the learner’s mind. It sums up what worked, what was missing and what to work on in the next attempt.
Also called
immediate feedback, instant debrief
Why straight away
Right after the conversation, the learner still remembers what they felt and said. The feedback is more meaningful and the urge to try again is stronger.
What it contains
An assessment against the rubric criteria, strengths, areas to improve, any verbal tics and a short action plan for the next attempt.
With Face Up
The hot debrief appears at the end of every session, on the rubric set by the trainer. It is complemented by the analysis of the recording, the cold debrief.
