Face Up with SAP SuccessFactors: SCORM 1.2 and 2004
SAP SuccessFactors Learning does not support LTI, but it does support SCORM 1.2 and 2004. Each Face Up simulation is imported as SCORM content, linked to a Learning Item you assign to your teams.
In short
Yes, Face Up works with SAP SuccessFactors Learning, via SCORM. SAP states that LTI is not supported in SuccessFactors Learning, so each Face Up simulation comes as a SCORM module (.zip), imported with the Import Content wizard, and SAP records each learner’s completion and score in their Learning History.
How it works
What the SAP administrator does
They import each module under SAP SuccessFactors Learning Administration > Content > Import Content, using Add New Content. The wizard deploys the package to your Content Deployment Location and creates the Learning Item. Depending on your organisation, this falls to the team that runs SAP or to the Premium Content Management (PCM) service.
What the training manager does
During scoping, they choose with the Face Up team the scenarios their audiences need, then assign the matching Learning Items, one per simulation, like any other training.
What the learner sees
They open the Learning Item from SAP SuccessFactors. The simulation runs in the SAP wrapper (Suspend, Previous, Continue and Exit buttons), in the page or in a new window depending on your tenant’s settings. The browser asks for microphone access the first time; when the conversation ends, the learner reads their debrief and can replay it.
Setup, step by step
- Choose the SCORM version. SAP supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 (2nd and 4th Editions), but not officially the 3rd Edition. Tell the Face Up team which version you want; SCORM 1.2 avoids the edition question.
- Start Import Content. In SAP SuccessFactors Learning Administration, open Content > Import Content, choose Add New Content and select the .zip file supplied by Face Up.
- Enter the Content Package ID. It is mandatory for a SCORM 2004 package. Choose a readable, stable ID that makes the scenario easy to find.
- Check the Content Object. Under Content > Content Objects, make sure the Launch Method matches the imported package: SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 or SCORM 2004 4th Edition.
- Choose how it opens. Content can open in the page, in an iframe sized by the inlineContentWindowSize.scorm.* properties, or with Launch in a New Browser Window. Keep whichever mode lets the microphone work in your test.
- Test, then assign. Assign the Learning Item to a test account, play a full session and check the Learning History, then open it to a pilot group.
What comes back into your LMS
SAP SuccessFactors Learning reads the SCORM data from the Face Up module and links it to the learner. The detailed debrief stays in Face Up.
- Completion: recorded for each learner (cmi.completion_status in SCORM 2004, its cmi.core.* equivalents in SCORM 1.2).
- Score: SAP stores the SCORM score, with raw, min, max and scaled values in SCORM 2004.
- Learning History: results appear in the learner’s training record alongside the rest of their training, with one Learning Item per simulation.
- The debrief: objectives met or not, strengths and points to improve stay in Face Up, where the learner reads them after each session.
Good to know
- As LTI is not available in SAP SuccessFactors Learning, Deep Linking and AGS grade return do not apply: each scenario is managed as SCORM content.
- If your content is not hosted on SAP SuccessFactors Content Hosting, the Cross Domain Solution (Proxlet) must be in place: your SAP team can confirm this.
- For a new version of a module, the wizard offers Replace Content for an Existing Item, rather than creating a new Learning Item.
- Your browser asks for microphone access the first time. If the microphone does not start in the page, test Launch in a New Browser Window.
- Start with one pilot Learning Item, one scenario and one group. Check the launch, the Learning History and the microphone, then scale up.

Frequently asked questions
Is Face Up compatible with SAP SuccessFactors?
Yes, via SCORM. Each Face Up simulation imports into SAP SuccessFactors Learning as SCORM 1.2 or 2004 content, linked to a Learning Item you assign like the rest of your training. Other LMSs are listed on our Integrations page.
LTI or SCORM with SAP SuccessFactors?
SCORM. SAP states that LTI is not supported in SAP SuccessFactors Learning (KBA 2830483), whereas SCORM 1.2 and 2004 (2nd and 4th Editions) are documented, with completion and score tracking.
Does the score come back into SAP SuccessFactors?
Yes. SAP records each learner’s SCORM completion and score and shows them in the Learning History. The detailed debrief, with objectives met, strengths and points to improve, stays in Face Up.
How long does setup take, and who does it?
The Face Up team delivers ready-to-import SCORM modules within 48 hours of the scoping call. Your SAP SuccessFactors Learning administrator or the PCM service then imports them, depending on your organisation. Book your scoping call.
Is it included in my Face Up plan?
Yes. SCORM and LTI are included in every Face Up plan. SSO, CRM and HRIS connections and the API are part of the Enterprise plan. Data is hosted in Paris (GDPR).
