Conversational Learning
Definition
Conversational Learning is a training approach in which people learn by talking: the learner practises with a counterpart, real or simulated by AI, then gets a debrief on what they said and did. Theory becomes repeated practice of real situations.
Also called
learning through conversation, conversation-based learning
Why this approach
An e-learning module is watched, then forgotten. Interpersonal skills (selling, reassuring, giving feedback, negotiating) are built by talking, making mistakes and trying again. Conversational Learning puts the conversation at the centre: practise first, understand through the debrief, play again.
How it works
The learner plays a situation with an AI persona (an unhappy customer, a demanding buyer, a struggling team member). The exchange is analysed, then a debrief highlights strong moments, weak moments and areas to improve. The learner replays until they feel confident.
With Face Up
Face Up is a Conversational Learning platform: your trainers build the scenarios, your teams negotiate, get challenged, handle tough customers and get a debrief on your rubric, so the skills are there when the real conversation happens.
