AI role-play: handle a non-compliant passenger at security screening
A hurried business traveller has his 200 ml bottle refused in the cabin. State the rule plainly, acknowledge what he is losing, offer costed options and let him choose.

The situation
You are a security officer at the cabin baggage search point of an international airport, during the first morning wave (6.45am). The scanner has flagged a hurried passenger's bag: a 200 ml bottle of eau de toilette, taken out of its sealed duty-free bag.
It exceeds the 100 ml limit allowed in the cabin and will not get through. The queue is waiting behind him and your supervisor is close at hand.

Hurried and domineering, demanding about time and clarity.
Manual search of cabin baggage in the departures hall, in public and amid the noise.
Your goal
- Introduce yourself and address the passenger before talking about the bag.
- Name what this bottle means to him before stating the rule.
- State the rule in two sentences at most, with no apology and no hedging.
- Repeat the rule as it stands in response to each argument, without raising hopes of an exception.
- Offer at least two options with their time and cost, then let him choose.
- Tell him where to go next and, if he disputes it, name your supervisor as his point of appeal.
What the debrief looks at
- Introducing yourself and addressing the passenger.
- What the item means to him, named before the rule, using his own facts.
- A rule stated in two sentences at most, as a plain statement of fact.
- No apology, no hope of an exception, no comment on his tone.
- Costed options proposed by you, with the choice left to the passenger.
- Directions given at the end and the point of appeal named.

Frequently asked questions
How does this AI role-play work?
You talk out loud with Antoine, a hurried AI persona who tries several angles to get an exception, for up to 10 minutes.
Do I need an account to try it?
No. The trial runs directly in your browser, with no account and no credit card. Your browser only asks for access to your microphone.
What does the debrief cover?
The debrief goes through each expected step: introduction, what is at stake named before the rule, a short and firm rule, costed options, the choice left to the passenger, directions and the point of appeal.
Can we adapt this scenario to our own cases?
Yes. With the SAM authoring tool, your trainers describe the situation and start from your documents: SAM builds the persona, the scene, the scenario and the debrief rubric, with no code. Simulations then plug into your LMS via SCORM or LTI 1.3.
