Soft skills

Definition

Soft skills are behavioural and interpersonal skills: listening, persuading, handling conflict, giving feedback, staying calm. They are mainly acquired through practice and feedback on that practice.

Also called

interpersonal skills, people skills, behavioural skills

Why they are hard to train

Nobody becomes comfortable in a difficult conversation by reading a method. You have to face it, make mistakes, understand and try again, which classic formats rarely allow at scale.

How to measure them

With a rubric of observable criteria, applied the same way to every practice scenario, you can track progress rather than an impression.

With Face Up

Face Up lets teams practise soft skills in simulation (sales, customer service, management, recruitment) and measures progress against your rubric.
